Lionel Messi has won the 2015 FIFA Ballon d'Or, the fifth time he's won the award.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar were also nominated.

Messi and Ronaldo have won the past eight Ballon d'Or awards with Ronaldo having won the previous two.

“It’s incredible this is my fifth. It’s much more than anything I’ve dreamed of as a kid.

“I want to thank everyone who voted for me and I want to thank my team-mates - without them none of this would be possible.

“Lastly, I want to thank football in general for everything it has brought me, both the bad and the good, because it has made me grow and learn.”

Barcelona and Real Madrid each have four players on the 2015 FIFPro World XI.

Representing Barcelona are Lionel Messi, Neymar, Dani Alves and Andres Iniesta, while Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric were named to the team from Real Madrid.

Also on the team were Paul Pogba of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Silva and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
